Copenhagen: Electric Boat Rental (No License Required)

About This Experience
GoBoat rents silent electric boats that you drive yourself, no licence needed, for up to 8 people per boat. You pick them up at Islands Brygge 10, get a short lesson and a safety chat, then choose your own route for 1, 2 or 3 hours. On the dates we checked in October 2026 it cost $90 per boat for one hour.
You navigate the harbour and canals with a paper map or the digital map on your phone, and a QR code on the table opens city facts and a quiz. Some areas are off limits: Nyhavn is a no-entry zone for GoBoats, some canals are one-way, and the boats move at 3 to 4 knots.
It suits families, groups of friends and dog owners who want a picnic on the water at their own pace. Split between eight people, the price per head is low, and you can bring your own food. GoBoat opens daily from 11:00 until sunset, with blankets on board for cooler days.
There is no guide, so you learn little about what you pass unless you read up. The skipper must be 18 or over and stay sober, alcohol is limited to two units each of beer, wine or ready-to-drink, and spirits are confiscated. Swimming and jumping off the boat are not allowed.

A great trip around the canals and GoBoat. It was an experience well worth the time (2 hours) and money.
