About This Experience

Kajakhotellet's guided kayak tour puts you in a stable double sea kayak for two hours, including instruction and a refreshment break, on a loop from Kalvebod Bølge. A guide who speaks Danish and English leads the group. It cost $68 per person, but it runs in the warm months only: Kalvebod Bølge is closed from 1 October to 31 March, and the next GetYourGuide date shown was 1 April 2027.

From Kalvebod Bølge the route passes under Langebro to Slotsholmen, then along Gammel Strand past Thorvaldsens Museum, Christiansborg Palace and Børsen, which is under scaffolding after the 2024 fire. It continues through Christianshavns Kanal and returns past the Royal Library and BLOX before paddling under Lille Langebro back to base.

It suits active travellers aged 12 and up who can swim and want to be at water level in the narrow canals. Under-15s paddle in a double kayak with an adult. Swim vests, paddles, rain pants or wetsuits, a changing room and lockers are all provided.

The restrictions are strict: no children under 12, no non-swimmers, nobody over 130 kg, and nobody with back problems, epilepsy or a tendency to seasickness. Under-18s need a parent or signed consent, and Danish rules require a name list before you set off. Paddling for two hours is physical work.

What an incredible experience this Kayaking tour through the canals of Copenhagen city centre is well organized and takes a very immersive route through the small downtown canals as well as the main canal between the two islands of the metropolis. Our guide Rasmus was kind and patient throughout our adventure and made sure the whole group had an awesome time! I highly recommend this activity to anyone who enjoys a relaxing paddle on the water!
